The Story Behind the Lot
Peach Garden oath
At the end of the Eastern Han dynasty, the realm was in turmoil. Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei shared the same ideals. In the peach garden behind Zhang Fei's estate, they burned incense and made an offering to Heaven and Earth, swearing brotherhood despite having different surnames. They vowed, “We do not ask to be born on the same day, month, or year, only to die on the same day, month, and year,” and pledged to work together to serve the state above and bring peace to the people below. From then on, the three shared life and death, supporting one another through hardship, and laid the foundations of Shu Han. Their brotherly loyalty has been celebrated for generations. This story in the oracle signifies that those who treat others sincerely and form bonds in loyalty will receive blessings. Now, be courteous and respectful, and make integrity your foundation. Treat others with genuine sincerity, and like-minded friends and helpful benefactors will gather around you. With an open and honest heart, and loyal, upright conduct, you can overcome even difficult trials together. Those who act as one will see their work through.

Wang Tong Offers His Counsel
Wang Tong, known as Wenzhongzi, was a great Confucian scholar of the Sui dynasty. He taught many students in the Fen River region; according to tradition, early Tang statesmen such as Fang Xuanling and Wei Zheng were among his pupils. As a young man, Wang Tong traveled west to Chang'an and presented Emperor Wen of Sui with his “Twelve Strategies for Great Peace,” outlining ways to govern the state and bring peace to the realm. The court did not adopt his proposals or entrust him with an important role, so he returned to his hometown and devoted himself to writing and teaching. He passed down his legacy through virtue and learning, benefiting later generations and indirectly helping lay the foundations of the talent behind the Zhenguan era of good governance. This story in the oracle signifies having a strategic vision and living by the right principles. The plans you offer and the aims you uphold may not bring immediate rewards, but if you act openly, with sincerity and a clear conscience, your good reputation will grow over time. Hold firmly to what is right and be patient in your efforts; your upright character will attract the recognition of benefactors and bring blessings in the future.
