FAQ

From onboarding nerves to deep features — 19 of the most-asked questions. If you're on the fence about trying us, the answer is probably here.

Getting Started

First time here? What do you need to begin?

QI don't know Ziwei Doushu — can I still read my chart?

Yes. The AI explains chart highlights in plain language — from 'energy distribution' to 'life themes' and 'key phases' — angles anyone can grasp without prior study. When you want to understand a specific term, the site's glossary explains the Zi Wei Dou Shu stars and palaces, the Ten Gods, the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, the trigrams and more.

QFirst time here — where's the fastest place to start?

Three steps: (1) Open myfate.ai/app, or download the iOS / Android app; (2) Create a chart: enter your birth date, birth hour and gender, and your name if you like; (3) Open Zi Wei Dou Shu or Bazi to see your chart, then ask the AI to interpret a palace, an annual cycle or your name as needed.

QWhat information do I need to cast a chart?

Your birth year, month and day, the birth hour (the traditional two-hour slot is enough — minute precision is not required) and gender; the city of birth only where it is needed. The hour matters most: in Zi Wei Dou Shu the Life Palace is fixed by the birth month together with the birth hour, so a different hour gives a different chart.

QI don't know my exact birth hour — what do I do?

A few options: (1) Ask your parents, or check a household register or birth certificate; (2) If you are still unsure, cast the charts for the neighbouring hours and compare them; (3) Traditionally, people also check each candidate hour against major events that have already happened (the years of a marriage, a job change or a move) and keep the one that fits best. If you have no way of knowing, you can enter the Wu hour (around noon) as a placeholder, but Zi Wei and Bazi results change with the hour, so treat them as a rough reference only.

QLunar or solar — which date should I enter?

Either works. The input form has a toggle — most people find solar (Gregorian) easier (the date on official documents); the system converts it to the lunar calendar and stem-branch pillars automatically. If your family only remembers your lunar birthday, enter the lunar date directly.

Accuracy & Scope

Is the AI accurate? Can twins or non-Chinese users use it?

QHow accurate is the AI? How does it compare to a traditional master?

Charts are calculated by algorithms derived from public-domain canonical texts, so the same birth data always produces the same chart, with no rules skipped. AI interpretations are generated from your chart by large language models (you can choose which model) and are for reference only; if you rephrase the question or switch models, the wording and emphasis may differ.

AI strengths: (1) Speed — results usually arrive within tens of seconds; (2) You can ask follow-up questions at any time; (3) It is not swayed by mood. AI limits: (1) It cannot read your face or palm; (2) It does not know your real-life circumstances. It works best for everyday self-reflection and life-stage reference; for major decisions, rely on your own judgement and consult a qualified professional where appropriate.

QDo twins share the same fate? What about people born at the same time and place?

Their charts are identical, but life paths still diverge based on name, family environment, industry, and personal choices. A chart shows innate possibilities and tendencies — not a fixed script. Even with identical natal charts, post-birth factors can produce very different lives — which is why same-Bazi people often turn out differently.

QCan Westerners or non-Chinese speakers use this?

Yes. myfate.ai is available in 5 languages — English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean — and the interface, the glossary and AI readings appear in the language you choose. The system comes from Chinese tradition, but a chart only needs your time of birth, whatever your nationality or native language.

QCan I analyze charts of celebrities, historical figures, or deceased family members?

Yes. As long as you have the birth year, month, day and hour, you can cast a chart — to study the case of a public or historical figure, or to remember an ancestor. Note: analyses are for personal study; if you plan to publish a celebrity analysis, please respect privacy and likeness rights.

Privacy & Data

How is your birth information handled?

QWill my birth information be leaked?

Your data is stored on our servers in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (European Union). To generate AI readings, we send an AI provider only the data needed for the chart: gender, date and time of birth, calendar type, where relevant the city of birth, the calculated chart, and the question you type in the question box. Only name analysis sends the name being analysed (a name cannot be analysed without it); when you use AI naming, what you enter in the naming form (which may include names) is sent as entered. Other AI features do not send names, and no feature includes your e-mail address or account identifiers in the requests. The AI providers are mainly DeepSeek in China and, for some functions, OpenAI or Google (Gemini) in the United States. Your question is sent as you typed it, so please do not include names, contact details or similar information in it. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising profiles. You can delete your account at any time in your account settings: it is deactivated immediately and your data is deleted after 30 days (except purchase and invoice records we must keep by law). See sections 2–5 of our Privacy Policy.

QCan I use the site without signing up?

Yes. Without signing in you can use the almanac, Current Hour, Xiao Liu Ren and the I Ching 64-hexagram lookup, and you can create a chart to view Zi Wei and Bazi — it is kept in this browser (on your device in the app) and does not sync across devices. Once you sign in, your profiles, points and subscription status sync to your account, so you can carry on from another device; AI readings that use points require an account. You can sign in with an email address or a Google / Apple account — no phone number, no real-name verification.

Pricing & Points

What's free, and how do points work?

QIs everything free? What are 'fortune points'?

Basic chart casting is free — once you enter your birth information, you immediately see the full visual chart.

Deep AI analysis (palace-by-palace breakdowns, annual readings, fortune-changing advice, name analysis, etc.) is paid in 'fortune points'. New users can open welcome gift boxes for points (signing in, claiming the Year Book, referring friends and more) to try it free. On the website, point packs, VIP Passes and the VIP Monthly Subscription are priced in euros (EUR) and the prices include 20% Austrian VAT. Point packs and VIP Passes are one-time purchases and do not renew; the VIP Monthly Subscription renews every month until you cancel it, and you can cancel at any time. Subscriptions and prices in the App Store or Google Play are as shown in the store.

QCan I get a refund after paying?

Credits (shown on the site as points) are non-refundable once they have been added to your account: before buying Credits, you tick a box agreeing that we start the service immediately and acknowledging that you thereby lose your 14-day right of withdrawal. VIP is different: a notice below the payment button tells you that by clicking it you request that VIP start immediately; if you withdraw within 14 days, you pay for the VIP days already provided and we refund the rest. To withdraw, use the button "Withdraw from contract here" next to the order under My account → Payment records (shown for 14 days after payment), or e-mail support@myfate.ai. The VIP Pass is a one-time purchase and does not renew; the VIP Monthly Subscription renews every month until you cancel it under My account → Subscription, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the current billing period without a refund for that period. If an AI reading fails, or Credits are deducted but cannot be used, the Credits are returned to your balance automatically (you get Credits back, not money). If you were charged twice, charged the wrong amount, or the service could not be provided, contact support@myfate.ai with your order number and we will refund the payment to your original payment method. Refunds for purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are handled by Apple or Google under their own rules. See sections 6, 8 and 9 of our Terms of Service.

QDoes VIP renew automatically? How do I cancel it?

It depends on what you bought. The VIP Pass (for example the 7-day VIP) is a one-time purchase: it ends automatically and nothing is charged afterwards. The VIP Monthly Subscription renews automatically every month until you cancel it. There is no minimum term: you can cancel at any time under My account → Subscription in the web or desktop app, or by e-mail to support@myfate.ai. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep VIP until then, and the current period is not refunded. Until then, you can resume auto-renewal. Subscriptions bought in our iOS or Android app are managed and cancelled in the App Store or Google Play. See section 6 of our Terms of Service.

QHow do I withdraw from a contract?

For purchases on our website, web app or desktop app, the button "Withdraw from contract here" is shown for 14 days after payment next to the order concerned under My account → Payment records in our web app (myfate.ai/app) and desktop app. Click it, enter or confirm your name, the order concerned and the e-mail address for our acknowledgement, then submit by clicking "Confirm withdrawal". We send you an acknowledgement by e-mail without undue delay, stating the content of your withdrawal and the date and time we received it. You can also withdraw by e-mail to support@myfate.ai.

VIP Pass / VIP Monthly Subscription: your VIP access ends when we receive your withdrawal, and a subscription will not renew. You pay for the VIP days already provided; we refund the rest to your original payment method within 14 days. For a VIP Monthly Subscription, the right of withdrawal exists once, from the day the subscription is first concluded; its monthly renewals do not give rise to a new right of withdrawal.

Credits: if, before buying, you ticked the box agreeing to immediate start and acknowledging the loss of your right of withdrawal, that right has as a rule expired when the Credits were added. We still record your withdrawal, review it individually and reply by e-mail.

For purchases made through the App Store or Google Play, withdrawal and refund requests must be made to Apple or Google under their terms. See section 8 of our Terms of Service.

Features & System Choice

Ziwei vs. Bazi vs. I-Ching vs. Name Numerology — which suits me?

QZiwei vs. Bazi vs. I-Ching vs. Name Numerology — which suits me?

In one line each:

(1) Big-picture life pattern → Ziwei Doushu (12 palaces + 14 stars — like a life map); (2) Five-element strength and yearly fortune → Bazi (Four Pillars); (3) Specific decisions (should I do this?) → I-Ching (Plum Blossom / Liu-Yao); (4) Naming, renaming, name-influence reading → Five-Grid Name Numerology.

Recommended path: cast Ziwei + Bazi first (innate framework), use I-Ching for everyday decisions, then refine with Name Numerology.

QDoes changing my name actually change my fortune?

Traditional name study holds that it can make some difference: a name is used every day, and over time it shapes how you see yourself and how others respond. It cannot change the natal chart, though — the structure fixed by your birth hour stays the same — and the traditional practice is to choose a new name that suits your Bazi favourable elements.

The myfate.ai AI rename tool suggests three candidates based on your Bazi favourable and unfavourable elements and the Five-Grid / Three-Talent rules, with a rating for each; treat the results as a reference.

Technical & Devices

Mobile and apps, saving and sync

QDoes it work on mobile? Do I need an app?

Yes. Open myfate.ai in any mobile browser (Safari / Chrome / Firefox) and it works without installing anything; the chart adapts to your screen, and 'Add to Home Screen' in the browser menu gives you an app-like shortcut. If you prefer an app, the iOS version is on the App Store and the Android version on Google Play, and there are desktop versions for Mac and Windows; your account and points work across all of them.

QCan I save and export my chart?

Yes, you can save them. Chart profiles are stored in your browser or on your device by default; once you sign in they sync to your account, which can hold several profiles — yourself and family members — and you switch between them by tapping the profile name at the top of the Zi Wei or Bazi page. AI readings stay available under 'Reading History'. There is no PDF export at the moment; to keep a copy, take a screenshot, or use your browser's print function on the web version.
