Later, when Guan Yu learned Liu Bei's whereabouts, he surrendered his seals, returned his gifts of gold, fought through five passes and slew six generals, and escorted his two sisters-in-law in search of his sworn brother. When he reached the Ancient City, Zhang Fei mistakenly thought Guan Yu had submitted to Cao Cao and betrayed their oath, and barred his way with a spear.
