Kun Wei Di (坤為地 ䷁) — Earth Doubled

繁: 坤為地简: 坤为地Kūn Wéi Dì· I-Ching (The Book of Changes)

Also known as: 重坤 · Hexagram 2 · ䷁ · The Receptive Hexagram

The second hexagram; six broken yin lines, Earth over Earth, symbolising receptivity, devotion, and the power that carries all things.

Kun Wei Di is the second of the sixty-four hexagrams, formed by doubling the Earth trigram (☷ over ☷). Its six yielding lines make it the purest yin figure and the natural complement of Qian. The judgement praises "利牝馬之貞" — the enduring correctness of a mare, strong yet gentle.

The Great Image reads "地勢坤,君子以厚德載物" ("The earth's condition is receptive devotion; thus the noble person carries the outer world with generous virtue"). In divination Kun counsels supporting rather than initiating, patient preparation, and quiet strength that sustains others.
