Tiger Chinese Zodiac 2027 (Ding-Wei Year of the Goat)
In 2027, the Ding-Wei year, there is no clash, punishment, harm or break between the Tiger and Tai Sui (太歲, the deity presiding over the year), nor do they share a branch, so the Tiger does not offend Tai Sui. Its annual star is Long De, one of the four auspicious stars. In 2026 the Tiger sat with Bai Hu, the White Tiger; by the traditional reading, this year it moves from a position that called for care to one that enjoys more support. But Long De describes a tendency, not a guarantee, as explained below.

Years in the table change at Lichun (立春, the Beginning of Spring, around 4 February), so each one covers births from that year’s Lichun up to the next year’s Lichun; folk custom changes the sign at Lunar New Year instead. If you were born in January or early February, check your exact date against the 2 dividing dates: for example, someone born in January 1986 is still an Ox whether you count by Lichun or by Lunar New Year. Nominal age is 2027 minus the year in the table, plus 1.
Yin (寅) and Wei: The Tiger Does Not Offend Tai Sui
The Yin branch lies east-northeast and Wei south-southwest; they do not clash, and they do not form any of the three punishments, six harms or six breaks with each other, so whichever school you follow, the Tiger does not offend Tai Sui in 2027. Traditionally, a year without offending Tai Sui is seen as one with a steadier environment and no extra “Tai Sui pressure”, suitable for putting your energy into the things you want to move forward. Not offending Tai Sui does not mean everything will go smoothly; it only removes one of the factors tradition worries about.
Annual Star: Long De (Dragon Virtue)
Counting the 12 annual stars from Wei, the star that reaches Yin is Long De, Dragon Virtue. Together with Tai Yang, Tai Yin and Fu De it is one of the four auspicious stars, and tradition links it with “turning bad luck to good”: when difficulties arise, someone is more likely to lend a hand, and there is more room for things to turn around. Some annual forecast books also list a “Ziwei” star in the same position, meaning the light of the emperor star. Long De says that help is easier to find when things are hard, not that hard times will not come.
Area by Area: Work, Money, Relationships, Health
Going by the traditional meaning of Long De, the areas of life read roughly like this. At work, when you hit a bottleneck, seniors, colleagues or clients are more likely to help, so it is a good time to ask for advice and work with others. With money, Long De is about “room to turn things around”, not windfalls, so keep managing money prudently. In love and dealings with people, you get on well with others, which makes it a good time to repair relationships and make new friends. For health, last year’s Bai Hu reminder can carry over, so keep minding safety and your daily routine. These are general readings for a whole group of people; how much each area matters varies from person to person.
How to Plan the Year
Tradition sees a Long De year as a good time to ask for help and work with others: if you want to change direction, study further or explore a partnership, write your plans down and ask seniors and peers for advice, giving helpful people (guiren, 貴人) a chance to appear. If there are long-unresolved matters at home, this is also a good year to sort them out. One reminder: an auspicious star is no substitute for preparation — contracts still need careful reading, spending still needs to stay within your means, and your health still needs looking after. Lending a hand when family and friends who offend Tai Sui this year (Goat, Ox, Dog and Rat) run into difficulties is another way to bring the meaning of Long De into everyday life.
From Bai Hu Last Year to Long De This Year
The annual stars move one place each year along with Tai Sui. In 2026, the Bing-Wu year, the Tiger was in the Yin–Wu–Xu Three Harmonies with Tai Sui, yet its annual star was Bai Hu, which tradition says calls for watching out for accidents and injuries; in 2027 it is Long De’s turn, one of the four auspicious stars. Looking further ahead, 2028, the Wu-Shen year, brings the Yin–Shen clash, when the Tiger will be the sign clashing with Tai Sui. At this pace, you might treat 2027 as a bridging year: wrap up what last year left unfinished, and lay the groundwork for the changes the following year may bring.
All Tigers, but Not the Same 2027
The zodiac sign is only the earthly branch of the birth year. A Jia-Yin Tiger born in 1974, a Bing-Yin Tiger born in 1986 and a Wu-Yin Tiger born in 1998 have different year stems, and differ even more in month, day and hour. In Bazi the year pillar is only two of the eight characters, and Ziwei Doushu lays out twelve palaces from the year, month, day and hour of birth. Long De falls on the Tiger as a group, but which palaces of your chart receive the Ding year’s Four Transformations in 2027 — Moon Hua Lu, Heavenly Same Hua Quan, Heavenly Mystery Hua Ke and Great Gate Hua Ji — depends on your personal chart.
Same Sign, Different Year
Zodiac pages group people by birth year and describe reminders shared by a whole group. Your own 2027 depends on the Ziwei Doushu chart cast from your year, month, day and hour of birth: which of your palaces the annual Life Palace falls in, which palaces receive the Ding year’s Lu, Quan, Ke and Ji transformations, and how far your current decade cycle (the ten-year period you are in) has run. The 2027 Annual Destiny Book lays these layers over one another and writes a book about your year alone. Every account can claim one full edition for free, and it is ready in about a minute.

Does the Tiger offend Tai Sui in 2027?
No. There is no clash, punishment, harm or break between Yin and Wei, where Tai Sui sits, nor do they share a branch, and all schools agree on this. The annual star is the auspicious Long De.
How old are Tiger people in 2027?
By nominal age: 54 for those born in 1974, 42 for 1986, 30 for 1998 and 18 for 2010. The full list of birth years is in the table above.
Does a Long De year mean everything will go well?
No. Traditionally, Long De means help is easier to come by and there is room for things to turn around; it does not mean difficulties won’t arise. Decisions about investing, partnerships or changing jobs still depend on the actual conditions and risks, and you should not relax your judgement just because your annual star is auspicious.
If I was born between 1 January and the end of February, which of the 2 year boundaries decides whether I am a Tiger?
Look at Lichun and Lunar New Year in your year of birth. The metaphysical count changes the sign at Lichun and folk custom at Lunar New Year; if your birthday falls before both, your sign is the previous year’s Ox. If your birthday falls between the two, the two methods give different signs, and Bazi follows Lichun.
The Tiger doesn’t offend Tai Sui. Is there still any need to settle Tai Sui or light a guangming lamp?
Generally there is no need for an tai sui; temples’ lists usually cover only the signs that offend Tai Sui that year. In Taiwan some people also go to a temple every year to light a guangming deng (光明燈), a lamp of light, and pray for safety; that is different from an tai sui and is an ordinary blessing custom. Whether to do it is a matter of personal belief.
