Horse Chinese Zodiac 2027 (Ding-Wei Year of the Goat)

Does not offend Tai Sui · Six HarmoniesAnnual star: Bing Fu (Sickness Talisman)

In 2026, the Bing-Wu year, the Horse shared the branch of Tai Sui (太歲, the deity presiding over the year): it was the Horse’s own zodiac year (ben ming nian). In 2027, the Ding-Wei year, Wu and Wei form one of the Six Harmonies, which tradition calls being in harmony with Tai Sui, so the Horse is not among the signs that offend it. Its annual star is Bing Fu, which sits exactly where Tai Sui was the year before. One harmony and one Bing Fu can be read roughly like this: outside relationships go more smoothly, while your own body and mind need proper rest.

Years in the table change at Lichun (立春, the Beginning of Spring, around 4 February), so each one covers births from that year’s Lichun up to the next year’s Lichun; folk custom changes the sign at Lunar New Year, so if you were born in January or early February, check your exact date against the 2 dividing dates. The same goes for babies born in early 2027: those born before Lichun at 9:46 a.m. on 4 February are Horses by both counts, while those born after Lichun up to 5 February are Goats by the metaphysical count but still Horses by folk custom. Nominal age is 2027 minus the year in the table, plus 1.

The Wu–Wei Six Harmonies: In Harmony with Tai Sui

The twelve earthly branches pair up into the Six Harmonies, and Wu and Wei are one of the pairs, traditionally also called sui he (歲合), “harmony with the year”. In 2027 the Horse forms this Six Harmonies pair with Tai Sui, which old readings link with better relationships and smoother cooperation and communication. The Six Harmonies are often understood as “people willing to cooperate”: there is less resistance when you negotiate or look for help. Like the Three Harmonies this is a good sign, but it does not choose your direction for you; whether things succeed still depends on preparation and timing.

Annual Star: Bing Fu (Sickness Talisman)

Counting the 12 annual stars from Wei, the last of them, Bing Fu, lands on Wu, the very position where Tai Sui stood the year before. Tradition links Bing Fu with minor illness and low energy, and often reads it as “the aftershock of the previous year”: after a hectic ben ming nian, body and mind need time to recover. Some almanacs also hold that the effects of offending Tai Sui last year carry on into the first half of the new year. The practical meaning of these sayings is less a prediction than a reminder: once your own zodiac year is over, don’t rush to run at full speed again.

Area by Area: Work, Money, Relationships, Health

Going by the traditional meanings of Bing Fu and the Six Harmonies, the areas of life read roughly like this. At work, the Six Harmonies favour cooperation, but Bing Fu is a reminder that your energy is limited, so do fewer things well rather than spreading yourself thin. With money, there is no particular “major loss” reading; if last year’s spending was heavy, this is a good year to get your finances back on track. In love and dealings with people, the Six Harmonies favour getting on with others, a good time to mend relationships. Health is the main reminder of the year: regular hours, check-ups and looking after your mood all deserve priority. How much each area matters varies from person to person.

How to Plan the Year

Following Bing Fu’s reminder, you could make “recovery” a goal for 2027: bring your daily routine back to regular hours, book a routine health check, and see a doctor if something feels wrong rather than pushing through. At work, if last year brought a lot of change, this year is a good time to find your feet in the new setting or role before deciding on the next step. What the Six Harmonies bring is smoothness with people; you can use it to repair relationships, find partners, or seek advice from someone who can help you clarify your direction.

Just Out of Your Zodiac Year: Thanking Tai Sui

In Taiwan, people who settled Tai Sui last year mostly return to the temple for xie tai sui, “thanking Tai Sui”, at the end of the Bing-Wu lunar year — around the 24th day of the last lunar month, when the household gods are seen off, about 1 week before Lunar New Year (late January 2027). In Hong Kong the custom is huan tai sui, “repaying Tai Sui”, usually done before the Winter Solstice and at the latest before Lichun on 4 February 2027, 2 days before Lunar New Year, as thanks for a safe year. In the new year the Horse does not offend Tai Sui and is usually no longer on the an tai sui list. These are folk practices; whether to observe them is a matter of personal belief, and this site does not judge their effect.

All Horses, but Not the Same 2027

A Bing-Wu Horse born in 1966 and a Bing-Wu Horse born in 2026 have exactly the same stem and branch, sixty years apart; Wu-Wu Horses born in 1978, Geng-Wu Horses born in 1990 and Ren-Wu Horses born in 2002 each have a different heavenly stem. The zodiac sign and year pillar are only part of a chart, and Ziwei Doushu also looks at the month, day and hour of birth. In 2027 everyone’s annual Life Palace is in the Wei palace; which palace that is in your chart, and which stars sit there, decides what you really need to focus on this year.

Same Sign, Different Year

Zodiac pages group people by birth year and describe reminders shared by a whole group. Your own 2027 depends on the Ziwei Doushu chart cast from your year, month, day and hour of birth: which of your palaces the annual Life Palace falls in, which palaces receive the Ding year’s Lu, Quan, Ke and Ji transformations, and how far your current decade cycle (the ten-year period you are in) has run. The 2027 Annual Destiny Book lays these layers over one another and writes a book about your year alone. Every account can claim one full edition for free, and it is ready in about a minute.

FAQ

Does the Horse offend Tai Sui in 2027?

No. Wu and Wei form one of the Six Harmonies, which tradition calls being in harmony with Tai Sui (sui he). But the annual star is Bing Fu, which old readings say calls for attention to physical and mental health, especially recovery after your own zodiac year.

How old are Horse people in 2027?

By nominal age: 62 for those born in 1966, 50 for 1978, 38 for 1990, 26 for 2002, and 2 for babies born in 2026. The full list of birth years is in the table above.

Is a baby born in the first 2 months of 2027 (1 January to the end of February) a Horse or a Goat?

It depends on the moment of birth. Babies born before Lichun at 9:46 a.m. (Beijing time) on 4 February 2027 are Horses; those born after Lichun up to 5 February are Goats by the metaphysical count but still Horses by folk custom; and those born from Lunar New Year on 6 February (2 days after Lichun) onwards are Goats by both counts.

Am I bound to fall ill in a Bing Fu year?

No. Bing Fu is an annual star that comes round by birth-year branch; tradition uses it as a reminder to look after your health, not as a judgement on any individual’s health. For your actual health, go by your doctor’s examination; regular hours and routine check-ups do more good than worrying about an annual star.
