Rabbit Chinese Zodiac 2027 (Ding-Wei Year of the Goat)
The Rabbit’s 2027 is a case of “one good sign, one reminder”. Mao and Wei, where Tai Sui (太歲, the deity presiding over the year) sits, both belong to the Hai–Mao–Wei Three Harmonies, so tradition counts the Rabbit as in harmony with Tai Sui and not among the signs that offend it. Its annual star, however, is Bai Hu, which old readings link with accidents and injury. The two come from different methods and do not cancel each other out; each is explained below.

Years in the table change at Lichun (立春, the Beginning of Spring, around 4 February), so each one covers births from that year’s Lichun up to the next year’s Lichun; folk custom changes the sign at Lunar New Year instead. If you were born in January or early February, check your exact date against the 2 dividing dates: for example, someone born in early January 1987 is still a Tiger whether you count by Lichun or by Lunar New Year. Nominal age is 2027 minus the year in the table, plus 1.
The Hai–Mao–Wei Three Harmonies: In Harmony with Tai Sui
The three branches Hai, Mao and Wei combine into a wood frame known as the Hai–Mao–Wei Three Harmonies. With Tai Sui at Wei in 2027, the Rabbit (Mao) and the Pig (Hai) are said to be in three-way harmony with Tai Sui, traditionally seen as the side that enjoys Tai Sui’s support, with smoother relationships and cooperation. The Three Harmonies are a good sign among the branch relations, but what they describe is being “in the same camp”; they are not there to ward off every trouble. The common claim that “wearing charms of your Three Harmonies signs resolves Tai Sui” mostly comes from accessory and crystal shops and is commercialised folk custom — believe it or not as you choose.
Annual Star: Bai Hu (White Tiger)
Counting the 12 annual stars from Wei, the one that reaches Mao is Bai Hu, the White Tiger. Tradition links Bai Hu with bloodshed and accidental injury, along with associations such as falls, bruises and surgery, and it has one of the more ominous reputations among the twelve stars. Interestingly, the Rabbit’s 2026 was the reverse: that year Mao and Wu formed a break, so the Rabbit broke with Tai Sui, yet its annual star was the auspicious Fu De; in 2027 it is in harmony with Tai Sui but meets Bai Hu. Remember that this is a reminder worked out from the birth-year branch alone; people born in the same year will not all meet the same events, and it certainly does not mean you will be injured this year.
The White Tiger Offering at Jingzhe, and “Seeing Red”
In Hong Kong and Guangdong there is a custom of “beating the petty person” (da xiao ren, 打小人) and making offerings to the White Tiger at Jingzhe (驚蟄, Awakening of Insects). In 2027 Jingzhe falls on 6 March, the 3rd solar term of the year, and people whose annual star is Bai Hu sometimes go to a temple to make offerings that day. There is also a folk idea of “seeing red” voluntarily to answer Bai Hu, for example by giving blood during the year. These are all customs; whether giving blood is right for you, and when to have tests or treatment, should be decided by medical professionals based on your health, and there is no need to arrange medical procedures around an annual star.
Area by Area: Work, Money, Relationships, Health
Going by the traditional meanings of Bai Hu and the Three Harmonies, the areas of life read roughly like this. At work, the Three Harmonies point to smooth cooperation and good relationships, favouring teamwork and work across departments. With money, there is no particular “major loss” reading, so income and spending can follow your plans. In love and dealings with people, support from friends and partners is easier to come by. For health and safety, Bai Hu is the main reminder of the year: take care on the road, during exercise and with safety at home. How much each area matters varies from person to person.
How to Plan the Year
In daily life, Bai Hu’s reminder is most useful as “a little extra care”: follow the rules and don’t rush when driving or cycling; warm up before exercise and know your limits; slow down a little when using knives, climbing ladders or lifting heavy things at home. If you have elderly relatives at home, check details such as non-slip bathroom floors, night lights and handrails while you are at it. On the other side, the Three Harmonies mean smoother relationships and cooperation, a good time to widen your network and find partners, putting that support to work on things that need others to cooperate.
All Rabbits, but Not the Same 2027
A Yi-Mao Rabbit born in 1975, a Ding-Mao Rabbit born in 1987 and a Ji-Mao Rabbit born in 1999 have different year stems and different five-element make-ups. In Bazi the year pillar is only one of four pillars, and Ziwei Doushu needs the year, month, day and hour of birth to cast a chart. In 2027 everyone’s annual Life Palace is in the Wei palace; which palace that is in your chart, which stars sit there and whether it meets the Ding year’s Great Gate Hua Ji can only be known from your personal chart. Bai Hu is a reminder to “take care”; your personal chart can say more specifically which area of life to take care in.
Same Sign, Different Year
Zodiac pages group people by birth year and describe reminders shared by a whole group. Your own 2027 depends on the Ziwei Doushu chart cast from your year, month, day and hour of birth: which of your palaces the annual Life Palace falls in, which palaces receive the Ding year’s Lu, Quan, Ke and Ji transformations, and how far your current decade cycle (the ten-year period you are in) has run. The 2027 Annual Destiny Book lays these layers over one another and writes a book about your year alone. Every account can claim one full edition for free, and it is ready in about a minute.

Does the Rabbit offend Tai Sui in 2027?
No. Mao and Wei belong to the Hai–Mao–Wei Three Harmonies, which tradition calls being in harmony with Tai Sui. But the annual star is Bai Hu, which old readings say calls for watching out for accidents and injury, so the Rabbit is often described as “in harmony with Tai Sui but meeting Bai Hu”.
How old are Rabbit people in 2027?
By nominal age: 53 for those born in 1975, 41 for 1987, 29 for 1999 and 17 for 2011. The full list of birth years is in the table above.
Can I have surgery in a Bai Hu year?
The timing of surgery and treatment should be decided by your doctor based on your condition; don’t postpone it or bring it forward because of an annual star. By folk custom, some people schedule procedures they needed anyway for the Bai Hu year, but that is only a psychological arrangement; for medical decisions, follow your doctor’s advice.
What is the difference between Three Harmonies with Tai Sui and simply not offending Tai Sui?
Not offending Tai Sui only means there is no clash, punishment, harm or break with Tai Sui; the Three Harmonies add a relation of harmony, traditionally seen as receiving Tai Sui’s support. In 2027 the Rabbit and the Pig are in three-way harmony with Tai Sui, and the Horse is in six-way harmony with it.
