Kan Wei Shui (坎為水 ䷜) — Water Doubled

繁: 坎為水简: 坎为水Kǎn Wéi Shuǐ· I-Ching (The Book of Changes)

Also known as: 習坎 · 重坎 · Hexagram 29 · ䷜

The 29th hexagram, also called Xi Kan; Water over Water, symbolising repeated danger met with sincerity and steady conduct.

Kan Wei Shui, traditionally titled 習坎 ("the repeated pit"), is the 29th hexagram, doubling the Water trigram (☵ over ☵). Its judgement "有孚,維心亨" teaches that when danger piles upon danger, inner sincerity keeps the heart open and allows passage through.

The Great Image reads "水洊至,習坎;君子以常德行,習教事" ("Water flows on without pause; the noble person keeps virtue constant and practises the work of teaching"). In divination this hexagram warns of successive hazards, yet promises that consistency and truthfulness carry one safely across.
