Xiaoxue (小雪) — Lesser Snow
Around November 22-23; light snowfall begins in northern regions; cold deepens.
Xiaoxue occurs at celestial longitude 240°, around November 22-23. Light snow begins falling in northern China; "lesser" because it is the first, not the heaviest. Cold deepens noticeably.
Tradition: making preserved meats and pickled vegetables for winter (腊肉/咸菜). Climate: north sees first snowfalls; central China cools sharply with thick frosts.
