Also known as: Yin Earth · Field Earth
Ji is yin earth — the soft fertile soil of the field, the garden bed, the river-laid loam. Where Wu is the mountain, Ji is the topsoil where seeds become harvest. Ji Day Masters tend to be quiet caretakers, mediators, the people others rely on without quite noticing. They give shape to the lives around them and rarely seek the spotlight themselves.
Ji pairs with 甲 in 甲己合化土 — yin soil married to yang wood, embodying the principle of generating fruit from union. Ji welcomes a balance of warmth and moisture (火 + 水) but fears flood (水多土流) and frost (金水太冷使土凍).
