Gen (☶) places one yang at the top above two yin lines, like a mountain that rests immovable. Per the Shuogua: mountain, the youngest son, the hand, the dog — qualities of pause, boundary-setting, and silent presence.
In divination Gen advises stopping, knowing limits, retreating to gather strength, and the discipline of saying "no further." Its lesson: stillness is not weakness — it is the foundation from which right action emerges.
