Bijian (比肩) — Shoulder-to-Shoulder

Bijian appears when another stem of the same element AND same polarity as the Day Master sits in the chart — for example, a 甲 (yang wood) Day Master with another 甲 elsewhere. It symbolizes brothers, sisters, classmates, business partners on equal footing, and the part of self that walks alongside others rather than leading or following.

Strong Bijian indicates self-confidence, independence, and capable peer-level cooperation. Weak or absent Bijian suggests difficulty finding equals — feeling alone, or unable to delegate to peers. Excessive Bijian risks competition, friction with relatives, and over-reliance on self at the cost of group efficiency.
